This is the fourth event of a five-concert series in partnership with the Fallbrook Music Society. Join us for a free concert of Brazilian music and dance for kids of all ages!
About the artists:
Claudia Lyra, an art and language teacher from Brazil, integrates Brazilian cultural arts into her teaching to foster critical thinking, self-worth, equality, and social skills among students of all ages. She uses traditional Brazilian rhythms, Capoeira (Afro-Brazilian martial arts/dance), and storytelling to inspire students while teaching about Brazilian culture through music. With partnerships in San Diego and other districts, she develops arts integration curricula and leads cultural assembly and residency programs, such as Do RE TREE, promoting environmental awareness and Brazilian arts in schools.
Thiago Winterstein is a multi-instrumentalist who performs and teaches across various genres and languages. Raised in a home filled with classical, opera, musical theater, and pop music from the US and Brazil, he developed a deep appreciation for diverse musical styles. For over 17 years, he has been performing, teaching composing, and recording music in styles like Bossa Nova, folk, reggae, and rock. He currently plays with the Brazilian children’s group Do Re Tree while working on an album of children’s music and raising his twin daughters.
