Living Room Learning: World Music & Dance
From Our Homes To Yours
We at the Center for World Music are working hard from home to continue fulfilling our mission of bringing world music to our community. As part of this effort, we’re happy to make our free Living Room Learning program available for your home (and, if you’re a teacher, for your students’ homes).
Our teaching artists have been busy in their own homes producing 8- to 15-minute interactive world music and dance video lessons for kids. These contain vocabulary, songs, storytelling, movement, clapping rhythms, background on the music, language and culture, and more. With an emphasis on student interaction, our teaching artists invite your children to sing, move, and clap along at home.
We also provide a detailed written study guide to accompany each lesson module. These will help parents or classroom teachers in preparing children to participate in each lesson. Prompts for follow-up discussion and activities are also provided.
These world music and dance lessons will now be available to you, free of charge! Several can be accessed at the links below, with more to be posted throughout the month of May.
